Rendition Pinot Noir Label Design by Andrew J Steel
I see the process of winemaking as being very collaborative and wanted to reflect this in the rendition label by using an artist who could interpret my wine and some of the things that make up my story. As each growing season presents different conditions and challenges and is very fluid I want the rendition label art to evolve, change and highlight various artists and there take on my wine.
This first label art by NZ contemporary Artist Andrew J Steel highlights some of my “meaningful things”
A great love of the outdoors is represented by the mountain, trees, tramping boots, ice axe and matches. A passion for fishing and hunting and sourcing food is represented by the Tahr, rifle, fish and binoculars and knife. A love for Central Otago is represented by the gold bar and pan. My love of travel and discovery by the map, compass and eyes. Love of family and friends is represented by the person and my dog milo. A love of wine by the vine, wine glasses, corkscrew and wine bottle. The hands represent the shared skill of artist and winemaker.
